Legal teams often need to create documents that follow a consistent format but contain information specific to each case. The Document Generation button allows users to quickly generate these documents using prebuilt Templates, without manually copying and pasting case details.
These Templates are created in Microsoft Word using the Neostella Add-In. The Add-In helps users to design the document and insert Field Tags, which will act as placeholders for information stored in Neostella (for example, client name, case details, or dates). After the Template is finished, it is published through the Add-In, making it available in the Neostella platform.
When working inside a Project, users can go to the section where the Document Generation button is located, click the Document Generation button, and choose one of the available Templates. Neostella will then replace the Field Tags with the real data from the current Project, automatically filling in the document.
The generated document keeps the same format and structure defined in the Template and is automatically saved in the Documents section of the Project, where it can be accessed and managed by the team.

Before generating documents, certain configurations in Neostella are required to ensure Templates work correctly and data is pulled accurately. Ensure that your admin configured all the following elements:

- Ensure required Objects, Fields, and relationships are configured.
- Enable Allow for: Document Generation on the Object.
Button Setup
- Ensure a Component built as Type: Button and Subtype: Document Generation is properly configured and included in a Form interface within a Project.
The button can be linked directly to a document template during its design as a component. Once inserted into a form, it automatically references the associated template, eliminating the need for users to manually select it. This enhancement streamlines document generation and ensures consistency across projects.
