Schema - Project Feed - How to Create a Project Feed Configuration

  • Updated

Before applying Project Feed configurations, it is important to understand how they work.

Each Project Type acts as the template for real projects or projects created in the system. When you configure the Project Feed for a Project Type, you are defining the Objects Events to generate feed items on the current projects built from that Project Type into that Project Feed.

  • Only configured Events will trigger Project Feed entries.
  • If an Event is not selected or configured, then no Project Feed feed items will be generated when that event occurs in a project.
  • Once a Project Feed configuration is Active, all current projects created under that Project Type will automatically follow the same settings for generating Project Feed items.

Prerequisites:

  • Only Objects with Allow for: Subscription can be used to perform this setup.

Follow these steps to establish the Project Feed configurations for a Project Type:

  1. In the Activity dashboard, click +CREATE.
  2. Select a Project Type. The dropdown displays only active Project Types without an existing Project Feed configuration.
  3. Select the Objects to Include.
  • For each Object, the user can configure which associated Events will be active. Once the event occurs in a current project, the feed item will be generated and posted in the Project Feed.
  • For each selected Object, a collapsible/expandable section is displayed with its default Events (For example: Create, Update, Upload).
  • Each Object returns default Events, based on its characteristics.
  1. Locate the Event that will generate a feed item in the Project Feed.
  • Add Objects: Click the chevron icon to select and add new Objects.
  • Remove Objects: Click the x next to selected Objects to remove the Object and its configuration.
  1. (Optional) Click the edit icon and enter the custom Message and add {{ to insert field tags, that will be displayed within the feed item
  2. Then click SAVE. When the message is not configured, a default message will be displayed.
  3. Enable the Active toggle.

Object Events are DISABLED by default.

  1. After the required Events are configured, click SAVE. The feed configuration was saved successfully message appears.

Next step

  • The setup is saved with Active status.
  • Once saved, all projects built using the configured Project Type will begin generating Project Feed entries based on the enabled Objects Events.

For Example: Consider the Mass Tort Project Type:

The Document Object is associated with this Project Type.

  • The Document Object has two Events: Create and Update.
  • In the Project Feed configuration for Mass Tort, the Update Event of the Document Object is enabled.
  • This means that for any current project created under the Mass Tort Project Type,

such as “project 10385 for J. Smith”, every time a Document Object is Updated, the system will generate the corresponding Project Feed.

In short, if the Update Event is enabled, any change applied to a Document Object in a current Mass Tort project will be shown in that project’s Project Feed.
