How to Manage the FIELD GROUPS Tab

This article explains how to use and manage the FIELD GROUPS tab. The information includes how to create field groups, assign them to fields, search and organize field groups, and delete them when they are no longer needed.

How to Create a New Field Group

To create a new field group:

1. Click on the + New button.
2. Enter the Field Group Name.
3. Review the API Name.
4. Click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.
The field group is created and becomes available to be assigned to fields.

6 STEPS

1. To create a new field group, first, click the + NEW button.

2. Click on the New Field group.

3. Enter the field group name.

4. Review the API Name, which is generated automatically.

5. When you’re ready, click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.

6. That's it. You're done.

How to Add a Field Group to a Field

One or more Field Groups can be assigned to a field from the Field tab.

Field groups must already be created in the Field Groups tab before they can be assigned to a field.

To add a field group to a field:

1. Go to the Field Tab.
2. In the Fields menu, select a field.
3. In the Field Setup menu, click the Field Groups dropdown.
4. Select one or more field groups.
5. Click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.

1. To add a field group to a field,
field groups allow you to organize related fields within the object.

First, go to the Fields tab.

2. Then, in the Fields menu, select the field to update.

3. In the Field Setup panel, click on the Field Groups dropdown.

How to Search for a Field Group

A specific field group can be quickly located by using the search bar:

1. Click the Search bar.
2. Enter the field group name or part of the name.
Field groups that contain the entered text are automatically filtered and displayed in the Field Groups menu.

1. To search for a field group, you can quickly locate a specific group using the search bar.

First, click the Search bar.
Then, enter the field group name, or part of the name.

2. The Field Groups menu automatically filters to show only the groups that match your search.

How to Drag and Drop Field Groups

To reorder field groups directly from the Field Groups menu:

1. Click and hold the field group to be moved.
2. Drag it to the desired position.
3. Release the field group.
4. Click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.

How to Delete a Field Group

To permanently remove a Field Groups:

1. Click the Field Groups to be deleted.
2. Click the delete button.
3. Click YES, DELETE CASES?
3. Click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.

1. To delete a field group, use this action to permanently remove a group you no longer need.

First, select the field group you want to delete.

2. Then, click the delete button.

3. Click YES, DELETE {field name}?

4. When you’re ready, click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE to apply the changes.

Deleting a field group does not delete the fields assigned to it, but it may affect how fields are organized in forms.
