How to Configure the Override Section/Field Value

To override the path name of the Section/Field value in the event the Filevine value is not a match to the one provided by the API.

The selected Section must be configured with the help of the support team to ensure accurate values are populated, otherwise incorrect values will result in the feature not working or values from fields that are not wanted appearing. You must provide the correct value.

  • This should only be configured if you have selected the correct Section and its corresponding Field(s) and the autofill function is still not functioning.
  • This feature is not available by default, if you are experiencing field autofill issues, please contact the Support team to help assist with this feature configuration.
  1. Click the pencil icon along the selected Section to configure the Override Section Value.

  1. Enter the correct section path in the Override Section Value, and click Save.

  1. Click the pencil icon along the selected Field to configure the Override Field Value.

  1. Enter the field path in the Override Field Value, and click Save.

  • When a Client or Contact Object and any of its Fields are selected, the pencil icons to configure the Override Section/Field are NOT available.

How to Obtain the Override Section Value

To get the correct Override Section Value, follow the steps below:

These instructions apply to Google Chrome.

  1. Open a Filevine project with the same Project Type used in the USClaims setup, where the Section is located.
  2. Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect to open the browser’s developer tools.

  1. Click the double chevron icon, and select Network.

  1. Click Fetch/XHR.

  1. In the Filevine Project menu, locate and click the Section to inspect. In the Name column, locate the row related to the target Section. The Information for the Override Section Value is the text BEFORE the numbers. 

For example: For the Plaintiff Name, Case Summary Section:

Filevine Project menu, click Case Summary, to obtain the value of Case Summary as shown in the screenshot below ignoring the values of “1638”.

  1. Copy and paste the value in the Override Section Value, and click Save.

How to Obtain the Override Field Value

To get the correct Override Field Value, follow the steps below:

  1. In the Filevine Project menu, locate and click the Section that contains the target Field. Then, in the Name column, locate the row related to the target Section and click on it.

For example: For the Plaintiff Name, Case Summary Section, Assigned Attorney field:

In the Filevine Project menu (after opening the inspector), click Case Summary.

  1. In the displayed panel, select Preview.

  1. Click Data, and click customObject, locate the row related to the target Field. The Information for the Override Field Value is the text BEFORE the numbers.

For example: To obtain the Assigned Attorney field value, locate the field within Data> customObject, as shown in the screenshot below ignoring the values of “26562”.

 

  1. Copy and paste the value in the Override Field Value, and click Save.
