overview
This article explains how authorized firm representatives can upload their legacy system data and document backup files to the AWS S3 bucket required for the migration and implementation process.
These backups allow Neostella Team to securely transfer data and documents into Neostella platform.
The backup files must be generated by the authorized firm representative and uploaded to the AWS S3 bucket provided by Neostella Team.
Two types of backup processes may be required for the migration: the Data Backup Upload and the Document Backup Upload.
Both processes are similar, but the upload method may vary depending on the type and volume of files. Data backup files are typically uploaded through the AWS S3 interface, while document backups may require a different method when transferring a large number of files.
this article is intended for
- Authorized firm representative who is responsible for obtaining and providing the data and documents backup files from their legacy system.
- Neostella Team responsible for managing the migration process.
prerequisites
Before starting the upload process, ensure the following requirements are met.
- The authorized firm representative is responsible for generating and extracting the backup files from their legacy system and preparing them before the upload.
- Supported file formats for the data backup upload include:
- .bak (SQL Server database backup file).
- .csv (Comma-separated values).
- Document backups upload support all file formats and may contain a large volume of files.
- Do NOT compress the data backup files.
- Once your backup files are ready, proceed with the upload described below.
how to upload data backup files
Follow these steps to upload the data backup files from your legacy system to the AWS S3 bucket provided by your Neostella point of contact.
Here's an interactive tutorial
Open the credentials email
Open the email received from Neostella with the Onetime Secret link (that contains the AWS credentials) and the folder path where the backup files must be uploaded.
Reveal the shared credentials
Open the Onetime Secret link and press the Click to reveal → button to display the shared credentials.
Shared credentials include:
- Link and Credentials to access the AWS Console: AWS S3 Bucket URL, AWS Account ID, IAM Username, One-time use password.
- Credentials to set up the AWS CLI: AWS Access Key ID, AWS Secret Access Key.
Open the AWS S3 bucket link
Copy the AWS S3 Bucket URL and paste it into an incognito or private browser window.
The AWS S3 Bucket URL is a one-time access link valid for 24 hours and cannot be reused after it has been opened. If the link expires or access fails, request a new link from Neostella Team.

Sign in using the provided credentials: Account ID or alias, IAM Username, Password, and click Sign In.
Reset the temporary password
In the Password reset page, enter the Old Password, create a New Password, confirm it, and click Confirm Password Change. Then click Continue to sign in.
Store your new password securely.
Navigate to the upload folder
In the Amazon S3 dashboard, navigate to the folder path specified in the email from the Neostella Team to upload the data backup files.
- The folder path for uploading the data backup and the folder path for uploading the documents backup are different.
- Ensure you navigate to the correct data backup folder.
Upload the data backup files
- Click
Upload, and then click Add files, choose the legacy system data backup file(s) (in .bak or .csv format) from your device, and click Open.
- Selected files are displayed.
- After adding the files, click Upload to start the transfer.
Confirm completion
- Once the upload is complete and the files appear in the destination folder, notify Neostella Team that the backup upload is complete, indicating the uploaded files name and size.
How to upload document backup files
The upload process may vary based on file size and where the backups are stored. Always upload document backup files to the designated document folder in the AWS bucket specified by the Neostella Team.
