How to Manage the DISPLAY Tab

This article explains how to use and manage the DISPLAY tab. The information includes how to control an object that appears in menus and interfaces, including its default views, assigned forms, role sets, custom permissions, labels, menu order, and icons.

For the display to activate, the settings must be set  first.

How to Activate the Default View

The default view controls whether display options are enabled for the object. To activate the default view:

1. Click the Default View toggle:

  • Blue to activate.
  • Gray to deactivate.

2. Click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.

1. To activate the Default View,
remember that this controls whether display options are enabled for the object.
First, click the Default View toggle.

2. A blue toggle means it’s active, while gray means it’s deactivated.

3. When you’ve set it as desired, click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE to apply your changes.

4. That's it. You have activated the default view.

How to Assign a Form to an Object

To assign a form to the object, the Default View must be active. To assign a form:

1. Click the Form dropdown menu.
2. Select an existing form or click + Create New Form.
3. Click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.

first, make sure the Default View is active, as this is required to assign forms.


Then, click the Form dropdown menu.

2. Select an existing form, or click + Create New Form to make one.

Role sets control visibility and access for this object in the user interface. To assign a role set:

How to Select a Custom Permission

Custom Permissions further control access to the object. To assign a custom permission:

1. Click the Custom Permission dropdown menu.
2. Select a custom permission.
3. Click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE.

remember that custom permissions provide additional control over access to this object.


First, click the Custom Permissions dropdown menu.

2. Then, select the custom permissions you want to assign.

3. When you’re ready, click SAVE or SAVE AND CLOSE to apply your changes.

4. That's it. You have selected a custom permission.

The menu order controls the position of the object in menus.

To set the menu order:

1. Click the Order field.
2. Enter a numeric value.
Lower numbers appear higher in the menu.
