Technical Considerations

  • The Insights section is only accessible on Cases.
  • Insights is read-only and does not support document generation.
  • Currently, Charts are the only Component type supported in Insights.
  • To configure an Insight, users must go to: Control Center -> Schema -> Views / Global Context.

How to configure a View to display on Insights

There are three main steps to configure a View for Insights:

Step 1: Configure a Chart Component with the Global Context.

  1. Go to Control Center -> Schema -> Views.
  2. Select the COMPONENTS tab.
  3. Click the +NEW COMPONENT button.
  4. Add a Name and API Name.
  5. Select the Chart type.
  6. In the Context field, select Global.
  7. Choose an Object. This action  displays all the objects inside the tenant.
  8. Select a Chart Type.
  9. Add a Chart title.
  10. Select a field to Group By. This establishes how the data is divided into categories.
  11. Now, configure the Metric (Aggregation). This determines what value the chart calculates and displays.
  12. Select a Field to Aggregate from the configured object.
  13. Then, choose an Operator from the options available for that field. Those operators are determined by the data type of the selected field.
  14. Click on the +SET FILTER to add a filter to the displayed data; this action will load the related fields. Depending on the selected field, the system will show different operator options.
  15. Click SAVE to finish the Chart Component creation.
i NOTE: For example, Group by: Project Type, then use Settlement Amount as the Metric with Sum as the Operator. The result shows the total Settlement Amount for each Project Type.

Step 2: Create a View, Add the Component and Select the Context: Global.

  1. Go to the VIEWS tab.
  2. Click +VIEW. This will open the View Builder.
  3. Add a Name for the View. Without this step, the View cannot be Saved.
  4. Select the Global Context. This will display the available components.
  5. Add a Container from the Layout section.
  6. Now, search and add a Chart Component.
  7. On the right configuration section, look for the Chart selection field.
  8. Select the Chart created on the previous step. This will load the chart name on the builder.
  9. Go to the PREVIEW tab. The system will load the chart component with the available data.
  10. Click SAVE. A pop up notification will be displayed.

Step 3: Confirm the View is displayed on the Insights Section in Cases.

  1. Navigate to Cases -> Insights.
  2. The new configured View will be displayed on the list.
  3. Click on it.
  4. An Insight View will display the configured component.
