Project Feed - Overview

The Project Feed section in Control Center > Schema allows users with administrative permissions to define which project updates should be shown in the Project Feed.

The Project Feed configuration is done through Project Type; users can select the relevant Objects and Events that matter to that Project Type.

These Objects Events will generate Activity Feed items when they are executed in current projects.

A Project Type is the template defining the structure for the recorded projects built on that Project Type.

Key Benefits

For Admins / Configurators Users:

  • Establish which updates are the most important per each Project Type.
  • Ensure end users see only relevant, critical and meaningful information in their projects Activity Feed.
  • Control which Objects and Events will generate feed items on the Activity Feed in projects.

For End Users:

  • Access a consolidated, chronological Activity Feed for each project.
  • Stay informed about key updates within the project such as changes in the project related with tasks, documents, communications, comments, actions etc. This serves as the project’s history hub, allowing the end user to quickly access and review the most important events that have occurred. Think of it as your single source of truth.

For more information about the Activity Feed interface in a project, please read: Projects-Activity.

Project Feed Interface

The Activity dashboard is the central hub for creating and managing the settings that determine what information will be shown in the Activity Feed of projects created under each Project Type.

The following elements are displayed in the Activity dashboard:

Element Description
1. +CREATE Click this button to create a new configuration for a Project Type.

The table lists all Project Types that already have Project Feed configurations.

Projects visualized by end users, whose Project Type has not been configured, will display an empty Activity Feed within the corresponding projects.

The table’s elements are described below:

Element Description
2. Search  This field allows users to enter text to filter configured Project Types based on the entered data.
3. Project Type Name of the configured Project Type.
4. Objects Configured Objects that are currently configured for Project Type.
5. Updated By Displays the user name who created or last modified the configuration.
6. Last Update Displays the most recent modification date.
7. Status

Indicates whether the configuration is Active or Inactive.

  • Active: The configuration for the Project Type is Active
  • Inactive: The configuration for the Project Type is Inactive.

Status Behavior

  • Active: The enabled Object Events will generate Activity Feed items for all projects created under that Project Type.
  • Inactive: No Activity Feed items will be generated while the configuration is inactive.
  • Activity occurring during an inactive period is not generated retroactively. Once reactivated, only new events will produce feed items in projects Activity Feed.

How to Create a Project Feed Configuration

Before applying Project Feed configurations, it is important to understand how they work.

Each Project Type acts as the template for real projects or projects created in the system. When you configure the Project Feed for a Project Type, you are defining the Objects Events to generate feed items on the current projects built from that Project Type into that Project Feed.

  • Only configured Events will trigger Project Feed entries.
  • If an Event is not selected or configured, then no Project Feed feed items will be generated when that event occurs in a project.
  • Once a Project Feed configuration is Active, all current projects created under that Project Type will automatically follow the same settings for generating Project Feed items.

Prerequisites:

  • Only Objects with Allow for: Subscription can be used to perform this setup.

Follow these steps to establish the Project Feed configurations for a Project Type:

  1. In the Activity dashboard, click +CREATE.
  2. Select a Project Type. The dropdown displays only active Project Types without an existing Project Feed configuration.
  3. Select the Objects to Include.
  • For each Object, the user can configure which associated Events will be active. Once the event occurs in a current project, the feed item will be generated and posted in the Project Feed.
  • For each selected Object, a collapsible/expandable section is displayed with its default Events (For example: Create, Update, Upload).
  • Each Object returns default Events, based on its characteristics.
  1. Locate the Event that will generate a feed item in the Project Feed.
  • Add Objects: Click the chevron icon to select and add new Objects.
  • Remove Objects: Click the x next to selected Objects to remove the Object and its configuration.
  1. (Optional) Click the edit icon and enter the custom Message and add {{ to insert field tags, that will be displayed within the feed item
  2. Then click SAVE. When the message is not configured, a default message will be displayed.
  3. Enable the Active toggle.

Object Events are DISABLED by default.

  1. After the required Events are configured, click SAVE. The feed configuration was saved successfully message appears.
  • The setup is saved with Active status.
  • Once saved, all projects built using the configured Project Type will begin generating Project Feed entries based on the enabled Objects Events.

For Example: Consider the Mass Tort Project Type:

The Document Object is associated with this Project Type.

  • The Document Object has two Events: Create and Update.
  • In the Project Feed configuration for Mass Tort, the Update Event of the Document Object is enabled.
  • This means that for any current project created under the Mass Tort Project Type,

such as “project 10385 for J. Smith”, every time a Document Object is Updated, the system will generate the corresponding Project Feed.

In short, if the Update Event is enabled, any change applied to a Document Object in a current Mass Tort project will be shown in that project’s Project Feed.

Schema - Project Feed - FAQs &Troubleshooting

What is the Project Feed?

The Project Feed is a chronological timeline that displays key events and updates related to a project, providing full visibility into what has happened within a project.

Who can configure the Project Feed?

Only users with administrative permissions can create, edit, activate, or deactivate Project Feed configurations in Control Center > Schema > Project Feed.

How does the Project Feed relate to Project Types?

Project Feed configurations are defined at the Project Type level. All current projects created using a configured Project Type follow the same settings for generating Project Feed items.

What happens if a Project Type does not have a Project Feed configuration?

Projects created under a Project Type without a configuration will display an empty Activity Feed.

Which events appear in the Project Feed?

Only Object Events that are enabled in the Project Feed configuration will generate Project Feed items Events that are not enabled will not appear in the Project Activity Feed.

Can I control which Objects and Events generate items?

Yes. Admin users can select which Objects to include and enable specific Events (such as Create or Update) for each Object. Optional custom messages can also be applied.

What happens when a Project Feed configuration is inactive?

When inactive, no new Project Feed items are generated for projects under that Project Type. Activity that occurs during the inactive period is not created retroactively when the configuration is reactivated.

Are Project Feed updates applied to existing projects?

Yes. Once a configuration is active, all current projects created under the selected Project Type immediately begin generating Project Feed entries based on the settings.

Can I customize the message shown in a Project Feed item?

Yes. Users with administrative permissions can define a custom message per Object Event. If no custom message is configured, the system displays a default message.

Does configuring the Project Feed affect the Activity Feed interface?

Yes. The Project Feed configuration determines which events appear in the Activity Feed that end users see within each project, according to the Project Type.
