A. What Is a Trigger

A Trigger is an event that starts an automated process.
Every process in Process Studio must begin with a trigger.

For Example: A trigger could be when a new case is created in Filevine or a document is processed in Foundation AI.

B. Accessing the Triggers Menu

To access the Triggers menu:

  1. Click the Process Studio (Beta) menu.
  2. Click the Triggers tab.

This opens the Triggers Dashboard.

C. Triggers Dashboard Overview

The dashboard gives you a complete view of all your configured triggers. It includes:

  • + New Trigger button
  • Applications triggered
  • Triggers Table, which includes:
    • Trigger Name
    • Created At
    • Linked Processes
    • Actions (edit/delete)

D. Creating a New Trigger

Follow these steps to set up a trigger:

  1. Click the + New Trigger button.
  2. Enter a Trigger Name.
  3. Select an App (e.g., Filevine, Foundation AI).
  4. Fill out the app-specific fields.
  • These change depending on the app you select.
  1. Add Trigger Filters:
  • Click + Add Item
  • Choose a First Value, Condition, and Second Value (just like in Conditional Nodes)
  1. Click Save to finish.

E. Editing a Trigger

To make changes to an existing trigger:

  1. Click on the Trigger Name from the table.
  2. Make edits in the Trigger Details and Trigger Filters sections.
  3. Click Save.

⚠️ Editing a trigger that is linked to an active automation will require the automation to be re-activated.

F. Linked Processes

To manage processes linked to a trigger:

  1. Click on the Trigger Name.
  2. Go to the Linked Processes tab:
  • View the names and statuses of all processes connected to the trigger.
  1. Click the window icon to open and edit the process in the Process Studio Editor.

G. Deleting a Trigger

To delete a trigger:

  1. Find it in the Triggers Table.
  2. Click the trash icon under the Actions column.
  3. Confirm by clicking Delete in the popup.

Deleting a trigger will disable any processes linked to it.
